MY HOMETOWN

My hometown, Banyuwangi is one of the most beautiful regencies in East Java, Indonesia. We've many natural beauties all over the place and the most notable one is mountain Ijen, which is also known as having blue fire. This beautiful town located in the eastern part of Java island. We are also having the advantage of being the closest city among all of eastern areas of East Java province to the northern part of Bali island which is quite stunning in its own way. Because of our advantageous location and having diverse natural beauty, our regency attracted so many tourists, both locally and internationally

For the past a few years, our government had made some wonderful improvement regarding our city images so very admirably. Firstly, our  current government had done greatly with the progress of the city cleanliness; they had lift us up from one of the filthiest city to one of the cleanest in our country. Secondly, my regency also has so many festivals all year round, including International surfing competition, BEC - Banyuwangi Ethno Carnival, Banyuwangi Beach Jazz, Tour de Banyuwangi Ijen (one of the most famous festival held in Banyuwangi, it's an international cycling competition that takes place once a year) and many more. Thirdly, the government also trying to promote Banyuwangi as a digital city by planting more than 1.500 Wi-Fi hotspot all over the regency; I heard some people thought Banyuwangi as Indonesia's Silicon Valley. :-D And last but not least, I've witnessed some real change in term of the public service toward the common citizen, such as the program "Lahir procot bawa akta / birth certificate service", scholarship program, etc.

The town people of Banyuwangi enjoy so many natural beauties that the nature has to offer. I personally take the joy in wandering around and enjoy the privileged of the freshness of our mountainous air. I have the passion of riding around  the mountainous area, admiring God creations as well as looking something for a change. ;-) I enjoyed strolling around the Kalibendo plantations and walked up to the waterfall through mountain river and the coolness of the water when both of my foot touch it gave me a special feeling which I couldn't describe it with words. And, if any of you love the idea of being at the beach, Banyuwangi has hundreds of beaches (literally) that scattered all over the regency. We've both white and black sands beaches as well as some outlying islands which is quite stunning.

Besides all of the natural resources and other festival that I mentioned above, I won't forget to tell you all that we, the people of Banyuwangi are very welcoming and hospitable. So, come and visit us. XD

English for Travel

MY IMAGINARY JOB

This job is going to take me to travel all over the world (if, I am lucky enough to be able to work for an international company/airlines) or at least, whatever company I'm going to work for, it's definitely still going to take me to many different places, meet new people, learn new culture and enjoy the chance of encountering new things everyday. I am not sure if this is really my dream job, but it's nice imagining having such an awesome occupation which I think many young people will enjoy doing it, though I am not young anymore. :-P

When I am on duty, I will have to serve some passenger on board of our aeroplane; assist them to get to their seat, help them to put their hand-luggage to the nearest locker cabin if needed to, sometimes I may have to perform the pre-flight safety demonstration as well, give them their meal, distribute some earphone and blanket to the customer and so on. My work will require me to fly very frequently and probably, I may not have much free time to meet my family and close friends as most likely I'll have to fly here, there, and everywhere. And something that everybody must remember if one of you ever want to do the imaginary job I've described above are, firstly, you must be good looking, slender and quite tall; secondly, you must be a very polite person; thirdly, you must speak at least one or two foreign language fluently; fourthly, you must know how to swim, must be customer service orientated person and so on.

Can anyone guess what kind of job I was trying to describe in my writing practice? :-)

My 1st Writing III's Task

MALIN KUNDANG

Many years ago, there lived a small family of two in the western part of Indonesia. They were Malin Kundang and his mother. His father had left them when he was still young, so Malin's mother has to take care of him by herself. Malin and his mother lived very happily just the two of them. Malin was a good son and hard-working person, but a little bit ambitious in his own way and he always has had a dream of working abroad.

Someday, he told his mother that he wanted to pursue his career in another country and asked for her permission as well as her blessing.
"Mother, could you please give me your permission to work abroad?"
"Please, give your blessing mother, I really want to do it."
"Malin, I will never give you my permission and blessing for you to go and leave me alone."
Despite the fact that his mother hasn't give her permission, he still decided to go away to find his dream. He went away quietly without telling his mother where he was heading as well as what's he intended to do.
A few years has passed since Malin left home and no news had been sent to his mother. She was very upset and disappointed with her only son and without realizing it, she cursed him to never succeed in his career abroad. Meanwhile abroad, although he was very hard-working worker, it seems that the progress of his career doesn't satisfy him very much. One day, while he was thinking about his mother, he also thought of going back home and start over again in his hometown with high hopes of doing better than his previous career.

When he returned home, Malin's mother welcome him very warmly and she was pleased to see his son again. Not long after his returned from foreign country, Malin landed himself a very decent and perfect job which he always wanted all along. He got his dream job, he received a huge amount of salary, he bought his own house, and he also bought his own sport car. Then, someday he met a girl of his dream: smart, educated, well-behaved, kind and beautiful, but unfortunately she came from a poor family. After some serious courting, he took her to meet his mother to ask for her blessing for their intended marriage to take place, but regrettably, his mother against it. She doesn't like the idea of him marrying her because of the fact that she was poor.  Malin was very upset with the cause of her mother's objection of his girl friend. He told her that she is going to regret of not welcoming her into the family as according to him, she's going to be the best daughter-in-law in the world. As they love each other very deeply, they decided to get married  in spite of the fact that his mother was against it.

Malin's new family lived very happily and contentedly. On the other hand, his mother was very sick and she couldn't do anything without some assistant. In the end, Malin's wife has to move her into their house and after that they lived in together. Althouh, Malin's mother objected their marrisge, still she loves her mother-in-law so very much. She takes good care of her with love, patient and full of attention. Malin's mother felt guilty and embarrassed with her passed treatment toward her daughter-in-law and afterward, she loves and cherished her even more than her own son.
