THE LEGEND OF PRAMBANAN TEMPLE (LARA JONGGRANG)
Prabu Baka was a king of Prambanan who was famous for being almighty and powerful. His figured was in the formed of a beastly giant. Although his figured was in the formed of a giant, he has a very beautiful daughter. Prabu Baka's daughter's name was Rara Jonggrang.
Later Prambanan Kingdom was attacked by Pengging Kingdom which was assisted by Bandung Bondowoso who was famous for being all-powerful. Bandung Bondowoso was able to beat Prabu Baka in a fiery fight. Prabu Baka was killed, struck by Bandung Bondowoso's weapons. Prambanan Kingdom was under Bandung Bondowoso controlled.
When Bandung Bondowoso saw Rara Jonggrang, he instantly fell in love. He then proposed to Rara Jonggrang to be his wife. Rara Jonggrang was really unwilling to be Bandung Bondowoso's wife, someone who has killed her own beloved father. However, to reject it directly, Rara Jonggrang doesn't dare. She knows Bandung Bondowoso's divine power. She could be wretched if she rejected Bandung Bondowoso's proposal who has short-fused. She then sought ways to thwart Bandung Bondowoso's intention to marry her. She said "I am willing to be your wife, nevertheless I have requirements for it."
"What condition do you want?"
"I would like you to make a thousand temples and two very deep wells," answered Rara Jonggrang.
"All of those things must be done withing one night. If you can do it, I am willing to be your wife."
Alright. Bandung Bondowoso agreed to Rara Jonggrang's request. "I will fulfill it."
Bandung Bondowoso was exerting all his power. He called all of his supernatural armies who he ever conquered. Bandung Bondowoso called upon those supernatural armies to assist him to make a thousand temples and two very deep wells within one night.
The supernatural armies were willing to help him. They then worked very hard. Their way of worked was remarkable, very quick. The temples were built in a very short time. The number continues to increase. As well as its very deep wells. After mid-night, hundreds of temples have stood. The two wells were already deep. They have worked hard to fulfill Rara Jonggrang's request.
Rara Jonggrang was very worried to find those reality. According to her estimation, Bandung Bondowoso will be able to realize her demand. The temples continued to be made in an amazing speed. The two very deep wells also almost done. The passing of time toward dawn was still relatively long for Bandung Bondowoso to finish the manufacture of the thousand of temples and the two very deep wells. Rara Jonggrang became more and more worried when she found out that there were more than nine hundred and ninety temples had been made. Then, what must she done to thwart Bandung Bondowoso's efforts.
After some moments thinking about some ways, Rara Jonggrang then woke the Prambanan's girls up. Rara Jonggrang asked the girls to burn the straws in the eastern part of Prambanan. Half of the girls then asked to pound the rice and also to strew various flowers which has fragrant.
The supernatural armies were very shocked to find the reddish light in the east. They also smelled fragrant flowerbeds. They were even more shocked when they heard the mortar being hit. All of that traits were showing that morning has arrived. They then hurried away because they were frightened. Nevertheless, nine hundred and ninety nine temples had been made, only left one more temple to realize Rara Jonggrang's request. Although only left one more temple, yet it was impossible for Bandung Bondowoso to make it without the help of his supernatural armies.
Bandung Bondowoso's fury was incalculable. He knows that the day was still comparatively night. Morning has not arrived yet. He also knows that all of those things have been done by Rara Jonggrang to thwart his efforts. Of course, he clearly captured Rara Jonggrang's unwillingnes to be his future wife. Overflowing with fury, Bandung Bondowoso then cursed them. He cursed all of the Prambanan's girls who have helped Rara Jonggrang thwarted his efforts t become old maid or spinster. As for Rara Jonggrang, Bandung Bondowoso said, "Hei Rara Jonggrang! A thousand temples that you asked almost finished, only left one more temple, because you had done dishonesty to thwart my efforts, so be you a statue in the temple to make it a thousand!"
Immediately, her body petrified into statues. The statue then put in a large room in the temple, which up to now was called Lara Jonggrang temple.
"The moral message from this story are: Impose one's wills on others and also fraud nor deception will led us to some losses in the future, we must have the courage to reveal the truth even though it's very bitter."
