Should Mobile Phone Be Used In The Classroom?
In this modern age, mobile phone is part of our life; no one exist without it anymore. Some people think that the use of mobile phone in the classroom are very beneficial for the children. However, there are others who believe that it is a bad idea to allow the children to use their mobile phone in the classroom.
First of all, mobile phone is a great and very useful gadget to use by anyone at any different age level. It can be used for so many different kinds of educational purposes. For examples, students can use it to search for an unfamiliar word on the phone when they get stuck in the middle of nowhere. They also can use the mobile phone calculator to do some calculation if they need to, especially if they have to do hard task and didn't bring their calculator with them. Students can use the mobile phone to write some important notes about school work or other projects and more importantly, students can use the phone to make an emergency call to their parent immediately if there's something urgent come up at school or there's a cancel lesson or even an extra private lesson that will be take soon after school normal hours. In this case, the use of mobile phone in the classroom sometimes is extremely advantageous.
On the other hand, if the school allow the children to use their mobile phone in the classroom there are also many things that possibly happen during the class, which can be an annoyance for the rest of the children. For instance, the students might use the phone to text each other and can't follow the lesson which can be a disturbance for other children who are trying to concentrate. The students might use it to play the games as the teacher won't be able to control each student directly and or they might use it to cheat on the exam or other test as nowadays, it is easier to access the internet than any other time in history.
To sum up, I personally believe that there are always good and bad things on the use of any gadget in the classroom and no exception with the mobile phone. It depends on how the students want to use it in the classroom, if they use their common sense and prefer to use their mobile phone as a tool to help them to study better instead of using it inappropriately, then they will greatly benefit from the many advantageous of those modern utility has to offer.
