MENAK JINGGA AND DAMAR WULAN

Menak Jingga was a governor in the Blambangan area. He was famous for being very powerful and almighty. He has an extraordinary powerful and potent heirloom. It was called Gada Wesi Kuning. Felt himself omnipotent and also possessed an exceptional arms, Menak Jingga became very arrogant, ruthless, and tyrannical. Whatever he wishes must be materialize in reality. He will rage uncontrollably if no one obeyed his wishes.

One day, Adipati Menak Jingga sent an envoy to Majapahit kingdom. Adipati Menak Jingga wanted to propose to the Majapahit ruler, Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu (The Queen), who hasn't married yet. Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu refused Adipati Minak Jingga's proposal. The Queen was unwilling to be married to the supercilious and ruthless Adipati who already had many wives.

Adipati Menak Jingga's furiousness was incalculable when his envoy returned to the duchy of Blambangan and declared that The Adipati's proposal was rejected by The Queen of Majapahit. Without thinking too long, at short noticed Adipati Menak Jingga commanded all of the Blambangan soldiers to get ready to attack Majapahit kingdom. Adipati Menak Jingga was directly led the attacked.

Devastating war was soon erupted after Majapahit kingdom forces were deployed to face the strength of the Blambangan forces. Adipati Menak Jingga was uncontrollable in that devastating war. With his extraordinary heirloom Gada Wesi Kuning, he faced hundreds of Majapahit's soldiers who were assigned to apprehend him. Adipati Menak Jingga's divine power was really thrilling, because with just one of Gada Wesi Kuning's blows, dozens to tens of Majapahit's soldiers were killed because of it.

In the end, Majapahit's soldiers were retreated because they were unable to face Adipati Menak Jingga's rampaged and also the courage of the Blambangan's soldiers. Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu was very upset to find her soldiers has been defeated. She then meditated, asked for god's direction to overcome the big crisis which was being faced. The Queen thereupon obtained a hinted. "Menak Jinnga will be dead if he dealed with a young man named Damar Wulan!"

Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu directly commanded Patih Logender to search for the young man called Damar Wulan. Finally, the figure of the young man which was being search was found. He lived very far away outside the royal city of Majapahit. He was immediately taken to meet The Queen, Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu in the palace of Majapahit kingdom.

"Damar Wulan," said Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu after Damar Wulan sat crossed-legged in front of her, "I commanded you to eliminate Adipati Menak Jingga who had been rioting and causing damage to Majapahit. Bring Menak Jingga's head to me as a proof of your devotion to Majapahit and also to me!"

"I will, Your Majesty."

After he made his obeisance, Damar Wulan immediately went to Blambangan on his own. Once arrived in the duchy of Blambangan's square, Damar Wulan then challenged Adipati Menak Jingga to fight. Adipati Menak Jingga fury was inestimable. He served Damar Wulan's challenged at once. After through that fierce battle, Adipati Menak Jingga was able to beat Damar Wulan. Damar Wulan fainted, got hit by Gada Wesi Kuning. The Blambangan soldiers then immediately captured and imprisoned Damar Wulan in the duchy of Blambangan jail. Eventually, Damar Wulan's aid arrived. Unsuspected, two of Adipati Menak Jingga's mistresses were helping him. Dewi Wahita and Dewi Punyengan were the name of the two mistresses. Both of them resented Adipati Menak Jingga. They have a high hope that Damar Wulan will be able to kill Adipati Menak Jingga so that they will be free from the ruthless and tyrannical ruler of the duchy of Blambangan.

Dewi Wahita and Dewi Puyengan opened the secret of Adipati Menak Jingga's divine power. "The Adipati Menak Jingga's secret power was at his Gada Wesi Kuning," they said. "Without his powerful and exceptional heirloom, undoubtedly you will be able to beat him."

Damar Wulan asked Dewi Wahita and Dewi Puyengan for help to take Adipati Menak Jingga's weapon. Finally, Gada Wesi Kuning was taken by the two Adipati Menak Jingga's mistresses quietly. Gada Wesi Kuning then directly passed to Damar Wulan. Armed with Gada Wesi Kuning, Damar Wulan then challenged Adipati Menak Jingga again.

The fight between Adipati Menak Jingga and Damar Wulan re-occured. Their fight was very exciting. Finally, Adipati Blambangan who was very famous for being arrogant, ruthless as well as cruel met his death after his body got hit by Gada Wesi Kuning. His head beheaded. Damar Wulan then instantly took Adipati Menak Jingga's head back to Majapahit. 

As a matter of fact, Damar Wulan tripped was followed by Patih Logender's two children named Layang Seta and Layang Kumitir. Both of them knew that Damar Wulan has succeeded in executing Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu's decreed. Both of them spontaneously planned a crafty plan to snatch Adipati Menak Jingga's head and acknowledged  as Adipati Menak Jingga's killer in front of Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu. Therefore, they hope that they will get a huge rewards from the ruler of Majapahit kingdom.

On the way to return to Majapahit,  Damar Wulan had been stopped by Layang Seta and Layang Kumitir. There was a fight between them. Damar Wulan was beaten by the two brothers, Patih Logender's biological children. At one time, they succeeded in snatching Adipati Menak Jingga's head and quickly left Damar Wulan. Once they arrived in Majapahit palace, Layang Seta and Layang Kumitir immediately met Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu. They confirmed that they had succeeded in beating Adipati Menak Jingga. They then instantly delivered a part of Adipati Menak Jingga's head to Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu

Before Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu commented; Damar Wulan came. Damar Wulan proclaimed about his succeed in beating Adipati Menak Jingga and chopped of his head. "Pardon me, Your Majesty, in the middle of the road I have been obstructed by two people and they succeeded in taking Adipati Menak Jingga's head.

Damar Wulan's speech was soon refuted by Layang Seta and Layang Kumitir who claimed that they were the one who had been succeeded in beating Adipati Menak Jingga. In the aftermath, Damar Wulan knew that the two of them were the one who had ambushed him and snatched away Adipati Menak Jingga's head.

The disputed between Damar Wulan and Patih Logender's two children were increasingly heat ups. Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu mediated the disputed, "To prove who's the right one, so settle it in gentleman's way. You suppose to fight. Who wins between you, then he is the correct one."

The fight between Damar Wulan against Layang Seta and Layang Kumitir re-occured. Finally, the truth was unfolds after Damar Wulan succeeded in outclassing the two brothers, the children of Patih Logender. Layang Seta and Layang Kumitir eventually admitted that the one who outfight Adipati Menak Jingga was actually Damar Wulan. Although they have acknowledged their wrongdoings, yet they don't escaped the punishment. Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu commanded her soldiers to imprison Layang Seta and Layang Kumitir because they dared to lie to her.

Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu then gave an outstanding rewards for Damar Wulan. Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu let Damar Wulan to marry her. Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu and Damar Wulan's wedding party were held massively. All of the citizen of Majapahit kingdom were so happy because their Queen finally got married. The Queen's husband was a figure that had a great sense of devotion to Majapahit because he had succeeded in defeating Adipati Menak Jingga who had ravaged Majapahit's peace and the tranquility.
"The moral message of the Indonesian folklore Menak Jingga and Damar Wulan are that the truth will eventually unfolds, though we try to cover it up. And so with the crime, it will be reveal despite the fact that how hard we tried to cover it up. The truth will get the righteousness in the future."
